Youth Ministry
Adult Choir - Our Adult Choir sings each Sunday at the 10:30 Mass. Rehearsals are held each Monday from 9-9:30 p.m. in the church. In addition to Sunday Masses, the Adult Choir sings at the Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, as well as our Confirmation Masses in the spring.
The most important part of our year, however, is the Easter Triduum. The Adult Choir serves as the primary representatives of our music ministry, singing on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Great Vigil. While this is our “traditional” choir, it is an extremely versatile group that offers a wide range of musical experiences. This choir is for adults mid-twenties and up. Hosanna Praise Band - Hosanna is a group unique to St. Paul, serving as our adult contemporary ensemble. While we strive for unity throughout our entire music ministry, Hosanna brings a decidedly special “flair” to our liturgies. The choir, consisting of singer’s high school age and up, is supported by a full rock and roll band. “Contemporary,” in the case of Hosanna, means energy and excitement, and those attending the noon mass are treated to recently composed liturgical music as well as reinvigorated renditions of the “classics.” Hosanna sings each Sunday at the 12noon Mass. Rehearsals take place in the church following the noon Mass, with additional rehearsals added on Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. during busier times of the year. In addition to Sunday Mass, Hosanna sings on Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday, as well as the Youth Group Passion Play each year on Good Friday and our Confirmation Masses.
Children’s Choir - The St. Paul Children’s Choir sings each Sunday at our 9:00 Family Mass. Rehearsals take place each Monday from 4:00-4:45 in the church. Open to children in grades 2-5 (exceptions made for younger children at a comfortable reading level), the choir provides a wonderful chance for them to let their voices ring out at Sunday Mass. In addition, most of our children have as much fun at rehearsals as they do on Sundays! Not only do we practice our songs, but we talk about the lyrics we are singing, giving the children an opportunity to talk about their faith through musical expression. If your child is curious, we invite you to come to a rehearsal and join in the fun!
Youth Ensemble - A recent addition to the St. Paul Music Ministry, our Youth Band and Choir sings and plays each Sunday evening at our 5:00 p.m. Mass. The group rehearses each Monday from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the church. All youths in middle school and high school are welcome and encouraged to participate. In addition to Sunday Mass, the group sings on Christmas Eve, as well as the Youth Group Passion Play each year on Good Friday and our Confirmation masses. This ensemble plays “contemporary” and classic repertoire, as well as delving into a few hidden gems from our current Catholic music culture. All youths in middle school and high school are welcomed and encouraged to participate. Instrumentalists must meet with our Director of Music, Kristin Dabaghian, and demonstrate proficiency on his or her chosen instrument prior to joining.
